BAROQUE IMPACT ON JAPAN

It is very easy to notice the way baroque art greatly influenced Japanese fashion. Baroque art shows how grand and over top details can portray beauty. After watching a documentary on the life of the Austrian born french queen Marie Antoinette dressed and lived the high life. she wore extremely high hair up to 3 feet! with feather and she also wore a lot of expensive dresses. which had a lot of vows and details.

there are many styles of Japanese fashion which are similar to the french baroque style of art. but the ones which are the closest are sweet Lolita, and hime gyaru, Lolita have a lot of dresses which are very big just like the old french dresses the high class women wore in the 1700's. they also have a lot of bows and ribbons all over. they use a lot of light colors and some are a bit more Gothic. they also mimic children's Victorian style clothing and carry umbrellas similar to the ones they carried in France.

hime gyaru is very interesting. they wear a lot of bright colors and very big hair. many bows are wore. they also wear brown hair and jewels on their  nails.

baquore are contains over the top details full of life and details. gives the viewer a sense of travelling through time and standing besides royalty. the Japanese took this sense of glamour and modernized it and gave birth to a very unique style of dress which makes the wearer look mystical, sexy and just plain gorgeous. i prefer the french simply because in portraits the kings and prince had big capes, long hair, long royal golden canes. and they also embraced the royal and my favorite color purple. they had too many layers which almost made them look like gods next to one another. if sometime in the future a modern style closer to the french style becomes available i will be first line to get my cape.
